The National Social Science Foundation of China projects are recognized by the academic community as the highest level and most authoritative research projects in the field of philosophy and social sciences in China, and their number of approved projects directly reflects the academic level of the college, and is also one of the important indicators of discipline assessment and academic evaluation. The approval of the National Social Science Foundation projects signifies that the research level of the applicants has reached a certain level and has been recognized and affirmed by the peer experts. The establishment of a key project is a sign that its research ability and level have reached the level of addressing the national key research areas.

There are 49 approved projects from Wuhan University in 2021, among which 8 key projects have been established. The School of Law has always attached great importance to theoretical research and research staff building work, actively encouraged research staff to participate in the College and the University National Social Science Foundation project declaration mobilization meeting, invited experts for many times, actively grasped the changes in the National Social Science Foundation declaration policy, tracked the whole process of project declaration, and strengthened the service and guidance for each staff. In recent years, the number of National Social Science Foundation projects declared by the college has been increasing, and the level has been gradually improved, especially with the successful declaration of a number of young teachers, which is of great significance to enhance the academic influence of the school.
