Recently, Wuhan University received a donation of 1 million RMB from Guangdong Ming Si Law Firm, which will support the construction of civil and commercial law disciplines and the training of talents in the School of Law. At the time of the implementation of the Civil Code, there is an urgent need for the civil and commercial law discipline to play an important role in the interpretation and application of the code. During the 20th collective study of the Central Committee Political Bureau General Secretary Xi Jinping also emphasized that it is necessary to strengthen the theoretical research on the civil legal system and to build a civil law theoretical system as soon as possible. The system should reflect the practical characteristics of China and characteristics of the times. This cooperation responds to the call of the times for the development of China's rule of law and legal education, which demonstrates the wish of joining hands with alumni law firms to help constructing the civil and commercial law disciplines in China.

The teaching and research department of civil and commercial law was established in 1980, which was one of the first institutions in teaching and researching civil law in China. We established the master's degree in civil and commercial law in 1984. Our school was granted the Ph.D. degree in 1996 in civil and commercial law, which was the first Ph.D. degree outside Beijing at that time. And we were granted the right to confer doctoral degrees in 2002. In recent years, Wuhan University has accelerated the construction of civil and commercial law disciplines, and has made remarkable achievements in academic research, faculty introduction, teaching reform, talent cultivation, and services to the community. Wuhan University has achieved substantial results in the field of academic research with a strong team of academic leaders, and has continuously enhanced the influence of civil and commercial law both at home and abroad. Our school continuously promoted the development of the theory and practice of civil and commercial law in China.

The two sides will carry out deep cooperation in various fields such as scholarships for students, academic research platform and academic conference exchange. The cooperation will focus on the innovation of civil and commercial law personnel training mode, broadening the sources of higher education scholarships, and strengthening the research of civil and commercial law disciplines. The cooperation will help to build a platform between theoretical education and practice. It is a win-win cooperation between the College and practical institutions, which provide a high-quality legal workforce.

This donation expresses the sincere heart of the alumni for their college, and makes an excellent example for the students to be grateful and to give back to the construction of their school, which will further unite the strength of teachers, students and alumni to jointly assist the construction of civil and commercial law disciplines in Wuhan University, and continuously contribute to the construction and development of the rule of law in China.
