Brief Biographical Detail

Prof.Wang was born in Yichang City in HubeiProvince in 1953. He has a J.S.D, and is a professor and doctorate supervisor of law as well. Prof. Wang has held consecutively many academic titles and posts, including Director of the Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (RIEL), Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee of RIEL, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association of Environment and Resources Law, member of the Law Experts Committee of the All-China Environmental Protection Federation, member of the China Environmental Protection Foundation, member of the Humanities and Social Sciences Commission of Wuhan University, member of the Standing Committee of Hubei People’s Congress, and member of the Urban Construction and Environmental Protection Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee of Hubei People’s Congress. Wang was awarded the degree of LL.M. at Wuhan University in 1987 and the J.S.D at PekingUniversity in 1999. He was a Visiting Scholar at Moscow University of Russia and University of Guelph of Ukraine respectively from 1991~1993. He held the post of First Diplomatic Secretary at the Chinese Embassy to Ukraine from 1993~1996. Wang has written Russian Environmental Law, Sustainable Development in Middle and Upper Stream Areas of the Yangtze River and Midwest China (co-authored), and A Course of Cases of Environment and Resources Law (Editor in Chief). In addition, he is the editor in chief the influential academic series title Collection of Environmental Law, Sustainable Development and Environmental Law and Monographic Study on A Series of Subjects of Environmental Law. In addition, he is the author of dozens of academic articles for journals. He has also participated in drafting and/or revision of the Environmental Protection Law, Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes, Law on the Prevention of Water Pollution of PRC, and Circular Economy Law and others. Currently, he is leading a drafting study of the Law on the Prevention and Control of Soil Pollution and the Law on Control of the Yangtze River and a revision study of the Forest Law. He has also completed many research projects entrusted by the Asia Development Bank (ADB), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
