On 21 December 2020, the first Han Depei Law Prize Award Ceremony was held in our school. Dou Xiankang, President of Wuhan University, Huang Jin, President of the International Law Research Society of the Chinese Law Society and Honorary  Chairman of the Han Depei Law Foundation of Wuhan University, and other guests attended the ceremony.

Prof. Liang Xi of Wuhan University Law School and Prof. Gao Mingxuan of Renmin University of China Law School received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Prof. Qin Tianbao, Director of Wuhan University Institute of Environmental Law, Prof. Du Yanlin, Director of Jilin University Theoretical Law Research Centre, Prof. Zhang Hengshan, Tianjin University Law School, Prof. Yi Jun, China University of Political Science and Law, Prof. Zhao Lei, Deputy Director of Commercial Law Department, Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Prof. Liu Yanhong, Dean of Southeast University Law School, Prof. Zhao Jun, Vice Dean of Zhejiang University Guanghua Law School, Prof. Wang Kai, Director of Center for Constitutional and Administrative Law, Beihang University Law School, received the "Young Original Award". President Dou and President Huang presented the awards to the winners.

President Dou stressed that Wuhan University School of Law has a glorious history , and we should uphold the spirit of Mr. Han Depei and other old scholars, improve the organization and work norms of the Han Depei Law Prize to make due contributions to the prosperity of China's legal theory research and the advancement of socialist rule of law.

Dean Feng Guo read out on behalf of Mr. Liang Xi, who had personally written the draft of the award before he passed away. In the draft, Mr. Liang expressed his gratitude for receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and his admiration for Mr. Han Depei's academic achievements.

Chairman Huang reviewed Mr. Han Depei's educational achievements and academic contributions, and hoped that this award ceremony would be an opportunity to learn from Mr. Han's academic spirit, educational aspirations and family sentiments to inspire and guide our work and study.

After the award ceremony, Prof. Qin presided over the report meeting. Eight winners of "young original award" made wonderful reports on the current hot issues of law respectively.

The Han Depei Prize was established in the name of Mr. Han Depei, a renowned Chinese jurist and educator, the master of Chinese private international law and the founder of Chinese environmental law. The inaugural Han Depei Prize is organized by Wuhan University and the Wuhan University Han Depei Law Foundation, and hosted by the Wuhan University Law School, the Institute of International Law and the Institute of International Law.
