The National Conference on Summing Up and Commending the Poverty Eradication Efforts was held in the Great Hall of the People on February 25. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, presented awards and delivered an important speech. WHU Law School Alumni, Grade 2014 Master of Laws student, Jiang Jian, was awarded the honorary title of "National Advanced Individual in Poverty Alleviation ".

Jiang Jian studied for his LL.M. at our school from 2014 to 2017 and is now the chief section officer of the Inspection Office of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In March 2018, Jiang took the initiative to serve as the first secretary of Xinzhai Village in Gaolong Township, Tianlin County, Baise City. During his nearly 3 years in the village, Jiang led the cadres and masses of Xinzhai Village to complete the target as scheduled. The village has also won many honours such as "Four-star Party Organization", "Red Flag Village for Industrial Prosperity" in Baise City and "Model Village for Rural Governance" in Tianlin County.
