From August 2 to 5, 2019, on the eve of the signing ceremony of the Singapore Mediation Convention, the first International Mediation Singapore was successfully held at the National University of Singapore. The competition was part of the signing ceremony of the Singapore Mediation Convention, sponsored by the Ministry of Law of Singapore and hosted by the Singapore International Mediation Institute. The competition attracted more than 120 competitors and more than 60 coaches from China, Singapore, the United States, Norway, France, India and other countries.

Professor Xiao Yongping, the director of the Institute of International Law and associate professor Qiao Xiongbing served as the coaches. Li Jiankun, a doctor of the Institute of International Law, was the executive coach. Fang Yijie and Ma Xiangyu were the team members.

In the end, Li Jiankun won the silver medal in the Mediation Competition, while Fang Yijie and Ma Xiangyu won the bronze medals in the Mediation Advocacy Competition. This was another achievement of WHU team in international business mediation competitions after winning the top four in the International Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong) International Business Mediation Competition in 2018.

During the competition, the members of our team introduced to the participants and judges of other countries the advantageous disciplines and construction of our college. Representatives of many countries and regions and experts and scholars have expressed their intention to further cooperate with our university in the field of international law.
