Workshop on “Intelligent Management System Architecture and Technology Implementation Path of Judgement of Similar Case” was successfully held

The Workshop on “Intelligent Management System Architecture and Technology Implementation Path of Judgement of Similar Case” was held in Wuhan University School of law on the morning of June 23, 2019. Professor Luo Kun, the director of the center for judicial case study of Wuhan University, was invited to give a lecture. Nearly 20 experts and scholars, who were from Higher People's Court of Hubei, Intermediate People's Court of Wuhan , People's Court of Beijing Haidian District, Wuhan University Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences, Wuhan University School of Law, Wuhan University School of Information Management, Wuhan University School of Computer Science, and some scholars from other institutions participated in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Yang Wei, an associate professor of the Wuhan University School of Law, and the deputy director of the Center for Judicial Case Study of Wuhan University.

At the beginning of the meeting, professor Yang Wei introduced the participants and leaders.

Xia Yikun, the vice dean of Wuhan University Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences, expressed her wish to form an academic community, a epistemic community and a practical community in the process of developing and utilizing big data, so as to accelerate the transformation of research methods under the background of interdisciplinary communications.

Professor Luo Kun believed that the system construction should aim at increasing judicial demand, developing judicial disclosure, improving trial efficiency, promoting judicial justice. Big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence should also play an important role in the adjudication of similar cases.

Wen Yan, the deputy director of information management department of Higher People's Court of Hubei, introduced the relevant information of "1234" project of Higher People's Court of Hubei. She thought the construction of the system mainly included three steps: knowledge map construction, natural semantics recognition and similar case comparison.

Yang Dan, the deputy director of the Research Office of Intermediate People's Court of Wuhan, pointed out that the system should be able to reduce the burden of judges. She put forward some suggestions from the aspects of data quality, data sources and accurate pushing.

You Tao, the president of the First Criminal Court of People's Court of Beijing Haidian District and expert in Beijing's judicial business, thought that there should be a professional team to input data. In addition to these, he suggested that we should pay attention to the feedback and risk precautions.

Yang Wei, an associate professor of Wuhan University School of Law, thought that the development of the system needs the people who are proficient in law and technology.

Lu Wei, a professor and deputy dean of Wuhan University School of Information Management, highly affirmed the development prospects of this research. At the same time, it is expected that AI can develop deeply in system and judicature

Yu Wei, an associate professor at the School of Computer Science of Wuhan University, made suggestions from four aspects. The first is to complete data standardization work, the second is to generate auxiliary case reports, the third is to automatically identify and push, and the fourth is to promote relevant laws and regulations.

Hu Jiming, an associate professor of Wuhan university School of Information Management, pointed out that the key of the system construction is the problem of modeling. The technicians should understand the judge's trial logic, and judges should also have technical thinking.

Xiang Yan, a professor of Wuhan University School of Law, emphasized the combination of teaching and scientific research based on her own work practice.

Yuan Kang, an associate professor of Wuhan University School of Law, proposed that the system should make clear of the requirements for docking.

Yu Lili, an associate professor of Wuhan University School of Law, thought that judicial adjudication ultimately depended on a mature legal system.

Ye Xiaoqin, an associate professor of Wuhan University School of Law, stressed that the intelligent case management system should pay attention to procedural issues.

Wang Defu, a teacher of Wuhan University School of law, thought that we need to clarify the system requirements.
