The Asia-Pacific Competition of Manfred Lachs International Space Law Moot Court was held at Amity University in Noida, India, from Mar.28 to Mar.31 in 2019. It is reported that 36 teams from China, India, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Nepal and other countries participated in the competition. Chen Jiangnan, Lv Xiaorong, and Liu Jiachen, post-graduate students of Wuhan university School of Law, won the runner-up in the Asia-Pacific Competition successfully under the guidance and assistance of Professor Su Jinyuan form Xi'an Jiaotong University and Ying Yaohui, Grade 2016 post-graduate student. This was also the best grade for the Chinese team ever got in the Asia-Pacific Competition.

The competition lasted for three days. Wuhan university team performed excellently in the preliminary, quarterfinals and semi-finals, defeating the representative teams from Australia, India and other countries and successfully entering the final. During the finals, Wuhan university team and National University of Singapore team had a fierce confrontation. Faced with the sharp questions of the judges, the team members confidently sorted out the legal relationship of the case from the aspects of jurisdiction, litigating qualification and substantive disputes. Finally, the Wuhan university team was defeated by the Singapore team by a narrow margin.

Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition was founded by the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) in 1992. The competition is named after the famous international jurist whose name is Manfred Lachs, the longest-serving former judge of the International Court of Justice. The competition observes the comprehensive abilities of students in legal analysis, retrieval, reading, writing and oral debate by simulating two sovereign countries' litigation in the International Court of Justice. Each year the ECSL organises, together with the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), the European Rounds of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition (MLMC). The regional winners from Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and North America then compete in the World Finals which are held in conjunction with the annual International Astronautical Congress. The World final of the Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition has the distinction of being judged by three sitting judges of the International Court of Justice.
