On the afternoon of October 13, 2019, the 4th session of the series of introductory lectures on law was successfully held in Room 202, teaching building 4, Ministry of Arts and Science. The theme of the lecture was "law and diplomacy - talking about subject selection with law students". The speaker was Ambassador Huang Huikang, a distinguished professor and senior diplomat of the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University. All 2019 undergraduate students from Wuhan University School of Law attended the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Mr. Huang Huikang introduced the theme of the lecture with two stories about choice and a proverb. His steady telling style made the students feel the deep feelings for home and country and diplomatic literacy of a law person. He encouraged the students not only to keep lofty ideals, but also to do everything in a down-to-earth way.

Then, Mr. Huang started the lecture with two parts: the first part was "diplomatic sketch" and the second part was "integration of diplomacy and law".

The first part "diplomatic sketch" included "diplomatic affairs", "Diplomat" and "diplomatic soul". First of all, Mr. Huang took "diplomatic affairs" as the starting point and put forward the view that "diplomatic affairs were closely related to our common people". Secondly, Mr. Huang deepened our understanding of diplomacy from the perspective of "diplomats were loyal guardians of national interests". At the end of the first part, Mr. Huang focused on the content of "diplomatic soul". Mr. Huang talked about his experience in foreign affairs negotiations. In that case, he stood firm and never gave in to defend the interests of our motherland.

In the next chapter, Mr. Huang took "the integration of law and diplomacy--promoting the construction of a community with a shared future of mankind" as the key point and gave us an introductory course in international law. First of all, he narrated the emergence of international law as an independent system from the historical evolution. Then he introduced some diplomatic achievement of China.

In the last interactive part of the lecture, the students asked questions actively and Mr. Huang answered them carefully. Mr. Huang also suggested us to consciously start to build our own knowledge system, effectively classify knowledge, so as to better absorb and use it.

At the end, Professor Huang once again offered his advice to more than 200 students with the motto of "lofty aspiration, pursuit of great achievements, high ideals, down to earth". For everyone, it is undoubtedly a valuable wealth for life. The lecture came to an end in the warm applause of all the students.
