In October 11, 2019, the founding ceremony of the Centre for Chinese Legal Study, jointly established by Wuhan University School of Law and LUMS, was held in Lahore. The vision and mission of the center were serving the Belt and Road Initiative, constructing the China-Brazil economic corridor, and promoting legal education cooperation and legal research. It was another important achievement of our school in further deepening international exchanges and cooperation, which was of great significance at the 40th anniversary of the resumption of law education in Wuhan University.

Professor Li Fei, the vice president of Wuhan University, Dr. Arshad Ahmad, the vice president of Lahore University of management science, Dr. Parvez Hassan, a member of the school's management committee, Mr. Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, a chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, and Kamran Asdar Ali, the executive dean of the Law School of Lahore University of management science respectively delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the center. Wuhan University and Wuhan University School of Law would fully support the construction of Centre for Chinese Legal Study and further deepen cooperation in personnel training, academic research, legal practice and international exchanges.

The establishment of the center received widespread attention in Pakistan. More than 100 guests from Pakistan's law circle, legal practice circle and business circle, as well as Chinese diplomatic officials from the Chinese embassy in Pakistan and the Chinese consulate in Lahore attended the establishment ceremony. Secretary Xie Yawei, professor Ben Boer, professor Xiang Yan and asociate professor Yuan Kang attended the establishment ceremony.

The two universities have had a good cooperation. The law school of Lahore University of Management Sciences and Wuhan University Research Institute of Environmental Law have cooperated in academic activities for many times.

Founded in 1985, Lahore University of management science was a private research university located in Lahore, and one of the best universities in Pakistan. In the future, the two universities would take Centre for Chinese Legal Study as a platform to carry out more comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in student exchange, personnel mutual visits, cooperative research, etc., At the same time, the two schools would further expand exchanges and cooperation in other disciplines.
