Facing the severe situation of the prevention and control of the epidemic, Wuhan University Law School has carried out the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and quickly set up a working group on epidemic prevention and control. Law School Graduate Affairs Office organized and mobilized Teachers and students to fight against epidemic with a science-based approach, dedicated power to ensure victory of the fight.

I. Uphold the Leading Role of the Party Group

Party branch fought as pioneer

Law School Party Committee responsed to General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions actively, played a leading role in theoretical learning, thought guidance, organization coordination, etc, formed the working mode under the guidance of the Party committee and coordination of the Party branch, the Communist Youth League branch and the Graduate Student Union.

The Party Committee of the Law School carried out the party activity of “Party building strengthens confidence and solidarity in the fight against epidemic” among the student party members. At the call of the Party Committee, branches actively launched the epidemic donation activities, played an exemplary role of party members.

The Communist Youth League branch responded positively

The Communist Youth League branch of Law School took active action to guide the youth member to fight epidemic in order. During the epidemic control, the eighth season of the “Youth Learning” online theme class was launched as scheduled, “The Youth Fight Epidemic and joint response to challenges” online activity received a positive response among students.

Law School Graduate Student Union toke measures to students’ needs

Wuhan University Law School Graduate Student Union carried out various forms of publicity and education activities, using WeChat and micro-blog and other new media platforms. They aggregated official information and wrote proposal, which guided student to focus on the epidemic and respond to it correctly and effectively.

Law School Graduate Student Union also launched the “anti-epidemic model” theme activities by interviewing 117 students whose family members were in the anti-epidemic frontline and editing into WeChat tweets propaganda report to show the responsibility of law school students.

II. Ensuring Health of Teachers and Students

Strict implementation of the epidemic reporting system

The college put the safety of all teachers and students in the first place, quickly launched the emergency work mechanism. Graduate Affairs Office mobilized counselors and student to work, designed health monitoring statistics, and completed the health condition of more than 1200 graduate students in a short period of time.

Paying attention to living condition of students staying in school

Graduate Affairs Office confirmed students’ itinerary one by one, understood the situation of 10 graduate students who remain in school, protected their living and learning needs.

Protecting students’ mental health with sincerity

In order to alleviate the psychological pressure of students, improve psychological immunity, enhance the confidence to overcome the epidemic, the college provided students with a variety of ways to understand mental health knowledge and release adverse emotional pressure. The Graduate Student Union launched several articles to provide scientific help for students, and counsellors jointly opened a law school graduate student's epitomic psychological counseling line. Xie Yawei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Law, participated in the Hubei Social Psychology Association experts psychological helpline, and shared the experience on psychological adjustment online.

After online-teaching started, “Warm Heart Greeting Mechanism” established at the initiative of the college teacher. From February 17th, Department of Psychology of Graduate Student Union has been shared inspiring quotes and music list daily in all grade groups.

Ⅲ. Carrying out the Mission of Fighting the Epidemic

Joining party members anti-epidemic commando

After the outbreak, the law school party committee set up a law school party members anti-epidemic commando at first time. Director An Fenglei, Guo Xinqi, Tan Tao and Zhao Xiaoyun joined the commando, serviced teachers and students.

Holding online meetings for working arrangement

Graduate Affairs Office held “New semester online video workshop and the 8th Counselor's Workshop”, used online networks and other means to promote teaching, answered questions for graduates, and led graduate students union and class groups to carry out service work.

Young students actively participated

During the epidemic control, many students participated in volunteer activities such as the inspection of people, material distribution, popularity publicity, as well as help to medical workers’ children.

Wang Min is a 2017 master's student at law school and a six-year-old Communist Party member who holds secretary in the party branch of the class. In order to protect her hometown Xiaogan, she volunteered in the epidemic prevention and control work.

Hu Xiaofang , from 2018 economic law class, actively participated in the online counseling to children of national medical team. “Even though I didn't spend a lot of time with the first-year friend, I'm happy every time I have in class.” she said.

Wurihan[Z1] ，secretary of the Communist Youth League branch of 2019 JM 2, organized donations and recorded details, sent cotton coats to the frontline police, and participated in the registration.

Lu Shuangqi, from 2019 JM 2,also became a glorious Volunteer, joined the works such as registration, access management, measurement of body temperature and publicity.

Ⅳ.Using Intelligence to Teaching and Scientific Research

Conducting online teaching comprehensively

Aimed to set an effective online teaching quality evaluation, feedback and improvement mechanism, the “Law School Spring Semester 2020 Curriculum Group” was established to assist in the development of teaching. Class committees have also taken the initiative to strengthen the communication between teachers and students and the management of online teaching quality.

Teachers had repeated process tests to finalize software for interacting with students. With everyone's concerted efforts, the teaching work is being carried out in an orderly manner.

Due to the efforts of college and teachers, students at home also maintain a high enthusiasm for learning.

Promoting scientific research, employment and students’ rights

The Graduate Student Union provided a detailed description of the teaching arrangements of the College during the outbreak, and carefully collected information on the database opened free of charge. At the same time, the union posted book list for various professional directions. Also, the union actively open and solicit the achievements of academic thinking related to the epidemic.

During the special period of the epidemic, law schools, while ensuring the safety of student, but also with the relevant enterprises, to provide free online public examination courses and “cloud office” opportunities to meet the needs of students for employment and internships.

The Employment Service Center of the Graduate Student Union specially united Hubei Ligen Education, provided for all students preparing for the examination “2020 civil servants provincial examination system lectures” class.

The law school is also working with HUIYE law office to facilitate “cloud internships” for students. After the online interview, students can “cloud work” at home to improve their legal practice skills.

No winter is insurmountable, and no spring will not come. We firmly believe that under the correct leadership of the Party and the country, and with the joint efforts of all the teachers and students, we will overcome the difficulties. When the virus recedes and the spring is bright, we will be reunited under the Luojia Mountain to enjoy the cherry blossoms!
