Pi Yong

 

Yong PI, born in Tongcheng County, Hubei Province in 1974, CPC member. Currently a law professor and Ph.D. student supervisor at Wuhan University School of Law. Research expertise includes criminal law and cyber law. Serving as the vice president of the Chinese Criminological Society, the director of the Chinese Criminal Law Society, the director of the China Cyber Law Society, and the evaluation expert of China Postdoctoral Foundation.

Basic Background

Doctor of Law, Wuhan University School of Law, (1998-2001). Postdoctoral, Renmin University School of Law (2003-2005). Visiting Scholar, Max Planck Institute, Freiburg, Germany (2010-2011). Selected into the “Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University (NCET)” (2011). The 7th "Good Mentor in My Mind" of Wuhan University (2016).

Appointed by Wuhan University to be the Deputy Chief Procurator of the People's Procuratorate of Jiang'an District of Wuhan (2008-2010). Appointed to aid Xinjiang twice, worked in Xinjiang for 4 years, and served as Associate Dean (2005) and Dean of Xinjiang University School of Law (2012-2015). Distinguished Professor of “Tianshan Scholars Program” of Xinjiang University (2013-2015). Executive Director of Xinjiang Law Society. President of Xinjiang Criminal Law Research Association (2013-2015).

 

Education & Research Background

1991-1995 Bachelor’s degree in engineering, received at the Electronic Information School, Wuhan University. Obtained a minor in law and the Lawyer’s Certificate (1995).

1995-1998 Master’s degree in computer image transmission and processing, received at the Department of Electronics, Zhongshan University.

1998-2001 Doctor of Law, received at the School of Law, Wuhan University. Followed Prof. Zhao Tingguang as mentor to study criminal law and cybercrime.
