Li Ao

Professor

Doctor Li Ao, female, born in July 17th, 1968, professor at Wuhan University School of Law (WUSOL);Director for clinical legal education and research center at WUSOL; Vice Director of the Center for the Protection of Rights of Disadvantaged Citizens (CPRDC); Vice director of the Committee of Chinese Clinical Legal Educators (CCCLE).

From Sept 2002 to June 2003, Prof. Li was a visiting professor at Columbia Law School and Yale Law School’s China Law Center. Her publications include” “Report on Gender Equality in China ”, “Gender’s Legal Protection ”, “Define Gender Discrimination”, “Social Gender Theory and Legal Research Renovation”, “Theory and Practice on Anti-Gender Discrimination” ,“Gender Sensitivity in Legislation,” “Case study of US Gender Discrimination Law” and the textbook “Gender and Law ” .

Since 2005, Prof. Li has represented or supervised a number of anti-gender discrimination cases. Collaborating with Hubei TV, she produced a series of expert interview on “Anti-gender Discrimination.” She has organized a number of training “Mainstreaming Gender” with provincial women’s federation, judicial bureau, bar association, and higher institutions.

She has attended international and national conferences on gender equality, and trained trainer for gender equality. Prof Li launched the first “Gender and Law” course in China.
