Law School joined the Global Federation for Artificial Intelligence Law Education as Initiating Institutions

On August 20th, the Founding Conference of the Global Alliance for AI Legal Education and the Scientific Research Symposium on Legal Empirical Studies was held in Guangzhou, with Wuhan University participating as one of the initiating institutions.

President Zhang Wenxian of the China Law Society's Research Committee on Legal Education and President Jiang Wei of the China Law Society's Research Committee on Internet and Information Law attended the conference and delivered speeches. Zhang Wenxian remarked that the establishment of the Alliance urges us to adopt a more open mindset, more innovative thinking, and more practical actions to jointly promote the intelligent transformation and development of legal education. Jiang Wei stated that the founding of the Alliance marks a milestone worthy of being recorded in the history of legal education. It will lead the research trend of digital law, enhance the frontier and internationality of digital law research, and provide scientific solutions for constructing a fair, just, open, and secure AI governance system.

As a representative of the initiating institutions, Wuhan University delivered a speech. Qin Tianbao, Dean and Professor of the School of Law, Wuhan University, expressed that "Science + Law" constitutes the fundamental framework of AI law. He hoped that the Alliance would achieve resource sharing, talent exchange, leverage the collective strength and advantages, and mutually support each other for common development in the future.

The experts attending the conference unanimously agreed that the establishment of the Global Federation for Artificial Intelligence Law Education would provide an important platform for academic exchanges and consensus-building, empowering the innovation of AI legal education. The conference discussed and approved the "Draft Charter of the Global Federation for Artificial Intelligence Law Education" as well as the list of Council Members, Executive Council Members, and the Secretary-General of the Federation.

Subsequently, over a hundred experts and scholars from judicial authorities such as the Supreme People's Court, Fujian Provincial Higher People's Court, and Qingyuan People's Procuratorate, as well as domestic and international universities and research institutions including Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Southeast University, Chongqing University, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Jinan University, South China Normal University, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of AI Legal Application, University of Macau, The Education University of Hong Kong, and University of Freiburg in Germany, engaged in in-depth discussions on two topics: "Methodology of Empirical Research on AI Law" and "Practical Paths for Empirical Research on AI Law."

The Global Federation for Artificial Intelligence Law Education was jointly initiated and established by the Law School of Renmin University of China, Criminal Justice School of China University of Political Science and Law, Law School of Wuhan University, School of Artificial Intelligence and Law of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Keyuan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University, Law School of Southeast University, Keyuan Law School of Fudan University, Law School of Sun Yat-sen University, Law School of South China Normal University, Faculty of Law of University of Macau, and Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of AI Legal Application. The first batch of council members comprises 66 domestic and international law schools and research institutions.
