Our team won silver and bronze medals in the 2nd Singapore International Mediation Competition

From 30 October to 8 November 2020, the second Singapore International Commercial Mediation Competition was successfully conducted online. The main organisers of the competition were the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI), the Collaborative Dispute Resolution Club (CDRC) and the Peacemakers Consulting Services (PCS). The Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA), the Singapore International Mediation Center (SIMC) and the Singapore Mediation Center (SMC) also provided a lot of support. The competition attracted 400 participants from 32 different countries, with 48 teams and 76 judges taking part in.

                                             


Wuhan University team members were Peng Qiuhong, Zhuang Ke, Yuan Tim and Li Jialin, supervised by Associate Professor Qiao Xiongbing and PhD student Li Jiankun. In addition, Wuhan University's International Commercial Mediation Team members, Fang Yijie and Zhang Rui Meng, coached the competition.

The questions in this competition were adapted from real cases. Our team participated in seven rounds of competition. After two weeks of competition, our team won a silver medal in Mediation Advocacy and a bronze medal in Mediation, which enhanced the international reputation of Wuhan University, Wuhan University Law School and the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University.
