On November 30, the 20th lecture of Weibo law lecture hall was held in the Law School. Wang Renbo, Professor of China University of Political Science and Law and Editor-in-Chief of Political Law Forum, was invited to give the lecture. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Qin Qianhong from Wuhan University Law School. Hu Honghong, Li Dong and Fu Jing of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Xu Yawen, Zhang Wanhong, Huang Mingtao, Li Binghui, Peng Chao, Su Shaolong and Zhai Han from Wuhan University School of Law attended the lecture.
The theme of the lecture was Modern China and its transcendence: Since 1840, Prof. Wang examined the etymology of “transcendence” and compared the correlation and differences between China and Japan's modernization in relation to four important historical events in China after 1840.
Prof. Wang believed that after the Opium War, the question of how China should deal with its relationship with the West became increasingly acute, and that today China still needs to gain insight into the general trend of history to answer and resolve this question. Prof. Qin expressed his gratitude to Prof. Wang and hoped that the students and teachers there would seriously consider the relationship between contemporary China and the world and seek to stand on their own feet in the midst of great changes.
