The State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China published a white paper on "The Communist Party of China and Human Rights Protection " on June 24, 2021, and held a briefing on the same day, inviting relevant experts to introduce the situation related to the CPC's philosophy and practice of respecting and safeguarding human rights and answer reporters' questions. Four experts and scholars, including Zhang Wanhong, Professor of Wuhan University Law School and Executive Director of Wuhan University Institute of Human Rights, appeared at the briefing to tell the story of human rights in China to Chinese and foreign journalists on the CPC's philosophy and practice of respecting and safeguarding human rights. Through the Q&A session, Zhang Wanhong and other experts systematically explained the achievements of the CPC in respecting and safeguarding human rights in the past 100 years since its establishment. It is reported that Wuhan University Institute of Human Rights was approved as a national human rights education and training base in 2014. Zhang Wanhong's team has participated in the drafting and evaluation of the National Human Rights Action Plan for many times; actively promoted the practical translation of academic results, and provided the central government and relevant departments with informed reports on human rights and development, taking into account the hot spots and difficulties in the practice of human rights protection.
