The organizing committee of the Global Tax Symposium (GTS) recently announced that Wuhan University School of Law had officially become the founder of the symposium. Professor Xiong Wei, as the representative of the mainland of China, would serve as the founding member of the steering committee of GTS.
The Global Tax Symposium was the first interdisciplinary mobile research platform in the world, which focused on the basic theory of international taxation. It aimed to benefit all participants by adhering to the concept of win-win cooperation and integrating the research perspectives of Africa, the Americas, Asia, Asia-Pacific and Europe in the context of political and economic globalization.
The GTS provided research opportunities for young scholars and professors in the field of international taxation. The Symposium would be held annually in different countries, with five reports selected from global contributions for discussion. The participants would include scholars, officials, policy makers and practitioners from different continents. The first Global Tax Symposium would be held on October 25, 2019 at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
As the founding member of the Steering Committee of the Global Tax Forum, professor Xiong Wei would have another important position on the international academic platform of taxation law, which would help Chinese financial and taxation law research institutions and scholars to further strengthen cross-border communications and cooperation. It also helped to make Chinese voice heard on upmarket international occasions.
