On 8 April 2021, the international symposium on "The Communist Party of China and the Progress of Human Rights in China" was held in Changchun, Jilin. The seminar was organized by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and the Propaganda Department of the Jilin Provincial Committee. Xiangba Pingcuo, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress and President of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, Jiang Jianguo, Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department, Li Junru, Vice President of the China Society for Human Rights Studies and former Vice President of the Central Party School, and Xu Xianming, Vice President of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Vice Chairman of the Supervisory and Judicial Committee of the National People's Congress, were all on hand to speak.

At the conference, Prof. Zhang Wanhong, Executive Director of the Institute of Human Rights, delivered a speech on "For Equality: The Core Values of the CPC's Centennial Human Rights Cause", summarizing the CPC's concept and practice of equal rights from the historical and practical dimensions. Peng Qinxuan, Associate Researcher of the Institute of International Law, delivered a speech on "Understanding the Community of Human Destiny under the Leadership of the Communist Party of China from a Human Rights Perspective", emphasizing that the community of human destiny includes a community of national human rights interests, common values, pluralistic human rights discourse, basic human rights norms and common obligations. Li Renhuo, a 2018 LLM graduate student, was also invited to participate in the first Jilin University Human Rights Graduate Forum held in conjunction with the seminar.
