The 8th Tianshan Law Forum Successfully Held

                                             

On July 24, 2021, the 8th Tianshan Law Forum was successfully held in North of Xinjiang——the Altai region at the foot of the Altai Mountains. The forum was co-organised by the Law School of Xinjiang University and Wuhan University Law School, hosted by the Law Society of Altay Region, and co-organised by the Research Centre of the Rule of Law in China, Hangzhou Normal University and Xinjiang Y&S Law Firm.

Prof. Feng Guo, Vice President of China Economic Law Research Society, Changjiang Scholar and Dean of the School of Law, Prof. Hong Hao, Director of Wuhan University Lawsuit System and Judicial Reform Research Center, Prof. Sun Jin, Executive Director of China Economic Law Research Society, Associate Prof. Wu Huajun of Wuhan University Institution of Inner-Party Laws and Regulations, Associate Prof. Zhang Biao of Wuhan University Institute of Regional and Urban-Rural Development. Prof. Deng Shemin, a cadre of the aid workers, from Wuhan University School of Law participated in the organisation of the conference and seminars. The forum invited more than 80 scholars from 45 universities inside and outside Xinjiang, including China University of Political Science and Law, Renmin University of China, Central South University, Beihang University, Shandong University, Jilin University, Chongqing University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Jiangsu University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Xiangtan University and Shanghai University.

On the morning of July 24, the opening ceremony of the forum was held. Guo Yonghui, former member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Minister of the Propaganda Department and Professor of Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Zhu Xin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of Altay, Zhang Hui, Deputy Secretary General of the Party Committee and Executive Deputy Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of Altay, Feng Guo, Dean of Wuhan University Law School, and Jin Bozhong, President of Zhejiang University Institute of Maple Bridge Experience in the New Era, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Li Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xinjiang University Law School, presided over the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Zhu Xin delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the Altai region. Prof. Guo Yonghui pointed out the necessity, importance and long-term nature of building the rule of law in Xinjiang in his speech. Prof. Jin Bozhong introduced the basic situation of the Maple Bridge Experience in the New Era.

Prof. Feng Guo introduced the basic situation of Wuhan University Law School's counterpart support to Xinjiang University Law School and the achievements made over the years. Since 2005, Wuhan University Law School has been providing support to the Law School of Xinjiang University, and has been cooperating with the Law School of Xinjiang University, and has made remarkable achievements in the construction and development of the Law School of Xinjiang University in terms of talent developing, discipline construction, scientific research and academic exchanges. Feng Guo said that Wuhan University Law School will continue to increase its support to Xinjiang University Law School, effectively strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions in all aspects, expand the diversity of group assistance to Xinjiang, and provide intellectual support for the rule of law in Xinjiang.

In the afternoon of July 24, experts and scholars carried out research on the theme of Xi Jinping's Thought on the Rule of Law and the Construction of Inner-Party Laws and Regulations, Xi Jinping's Thought on the Rule of Law and the Important Discourse on Intellectual Property, Research on Several Issues of Intellectual Property Law, "Maple Bridge Experience" and Border Governance in the New Era, "One Belt, One Road” and Non-traditional Security Construction and Human Rights Protection in four sessions. In the sub-forum of "Xi Jinping's Thought on the Rule of Law and the Construction of Inner-Party Laws and Regulations", Associate Prof. Wu Huajun gave a presentation entitled "The Organizational Regulations System of the Communist Party of China and its Systematization", in which he sorted out the concept, logic and development of the organizational regulations system of the Communist Party of China, and discussed how to realize the systematization of the organizational regulations of the Communist Party of China. He provided in-depth thoughts and suggestions on how to realize the systematization of the organizational regulations of the Communist Party of China. Associate Professor Zhang Biao presented a report entitled "Accelerating the supply-side reform of Inner-Party Laws and building a high-quality Inner-Party Regulations system", which analysed the current situation and trends of research on Inner-Party regulations based on literature and data, and put forward some opinions and suggestions on research on Inner-Party regulations.

The forum focused on the study and implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's "July 1" important speech and Xi Jinping's thought on the rule of law. The experts attending the forum were of high level and the topics of their speeches were of practical guidance. Wuhan University Law School will also take this opportunity to further strengthen the exchange and cooperation with Xinjiang University Law School and colleagues in the legal field.
