On December 23, the 14th session of the series of introductory lectures on law of Wuhan University hosted by the law school of Wuhan University was held in Room 103, teaching building 4, Ministry of Arts and Science. The theme of the lecture was " What Kind of Talents of Law are Needed in the New Era ". The lecturer was professor Feng Guo. All 2019 undergraduate students from Wuhan University Law School attended the lecture.
At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Feng greeted all the students present warmly. He said that Wuhan University was not only a university in Wuhan, but also a university in the whole country. He also said that we should strive to become the talents of law in the new era and contribute to the rule of law.
First of all, Prof. Feng explained "the extraordinary times and the extraordinary mission" for the students. He stressed that the world had not suffered such a change for a century. To have a command of the international situation, we needed to have a deep understanding of "change" and "situation". Changes have taken place in international geopolitics, economic contrast and value system, and the western centered world was gradually disintegrating. In the context, China called for a group of specialized law people who could walk freely on the international stage. At the same time, the technology and industrial revolution, the trend of social intelligence, informatization and ecology needed the development of law education. The establishment of a relatively perfect legal system needed the guidance of national policies and the efforts of talents of law.
Later, Prof. Feng shared with the students the goal and orientation of talents training in the law school. He expounded the development and talent orientation of Wuhan University Law School. He also encouraged everyone to cherish the opportunity of growing up in Wuhan University Law School, and consciously cultivate the professionalism and moral character. Wuhan University Law School aimed at cultivating high-quality and advanced talents. Prof. Feng's detailed explanation not only gave us a better understanding of the school, but also make us feel a sense of responsibility of achieving the rule of law.
In the third part of the lecture, Prof. Feng called on us to move forward and strive to be a qualified law people. As the dean of law school, he described the reform and efforts made by the law school to cultivate high-quality talents of law. With his own experience of studying, As far as he concerned, learning needed persistence. We needed to keep a modest and active attitude with passions. Besides that, We needed to pay full attention to theoretical learning and form a reasonable knowledge structure. It was also important to improve the ability of thinking. Prof. Feng's four suggestions deeply touched and benefited the students present. Finally, he concluded the lecture with a wish that we could fly high in the new era. He also expressed his expectation and best wishes to the students present.
Finally, the students actively raised questions. Tang Qianhui asked what access we could take to participate in social practice. Feng pointed out that they can participate in social practice through internship, social investigation. Li Jinying asked how to stay passionate for law. Prof. Feng replied that we should be curious and have a sense of responsibility. Prof. Feng answered the questions patiently.
The lecture was successfully concluded with the warm applause of the students. The series of introductory lectures of the law school came to an end. Prof. Feng brought enlightenment and pointed out the direction for the future study of the law students. The pace of the development of law would never stop. We would firmly adhere to the original intention of learning law and constantly pursue and harvest on the way of learning law.
