“Fighting the epidemic, Law School in Action” Student Affairs Teams Are Working Together to Perform Duties

Facing the current outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Student Affairs teams of law school responded swiftly under the strong leadership of the Group for Prevention and Control of Epidemics in the College. On the one hand, they paid attention to the protection of students’ physical and mental health. On the other hand, they conducted “online teaching” auxiliary work to ensure students’ growth. At the same time, student elites are also actively organized various activities to enrich the students’ life.

Counsellors: Protectors and Communicators of Students

Since the outbreak began, law school counselors have moved quickly to work online. Hu Wei, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, presided over several online meetings, arranged the work of students during the outbreak, and asked counselors to fully play the communicators around the students, the supervisors of online learning and the protectors of students’ life health and safety.

Accurately investigating, reporting and tracking the students’ health condition. At present, there were three undergraduate students staying in school. Counselors daily contact students through QQ, WeChat, telephone and other ways, track changes in body temperature data, solve the difficulties of living in school and send masks and other protective supplies. They take grid management for returning students, give full play to the class commitees, ensure timely grasp of each student's information, especially for the students in Wuhan.

Going deep into online classroom as communicators between teachers and students. Since the beginning of online teaching in our school on February 17, counselors have entered teaching platforms every day and provides a series of “cloud” services to ensure teaching quality.


Paying attention to the growth of students every day. According to the different situations of various grades, the counselors take different forms of daily work. Counselor Yan Yan ran an online conference on future planning for 2017 students, encouraged everyone to set the direction and prepare for it. Counselor Yu Yi issued a graduation questionnaire to ask each student's current status and the greatest difficulties facing, and actively provided solutions, especially the students who took part in the entrance exams for postgraduate schools.

Class Tutors: Care Never Leave

Class tutors also care for students through a variety of online platforms in this special period.

Wu Huajun, the class tutor of Law Class 1, grade 2017, participated in the February theme activities through Tencent Meeting, guiding the students from the epidemic situation, psychological construction, study arrangements, graduation planning and so on. Zhou Wei, tutor of class 2, has confirmed the students’ health condition in the class group several times, forwarded the knowledge of the epidemic science and school management notice, and privately provided advice and assistance to many students on graduation development.

Luo Kun, the tutor of Law Class 4, grade 2018, paid special attention to students’ feedback on online teaching. In view of the fact that sophomores have more courses this semester, he actively communicates with students, and encouraged students to study and practise more.

Zheng Tao, the tutor of Law Class 2, grade 2019, gave the students homework for the winter vacation: reading a book and writing a homecoming story. After receiving the students’ homework, he also gave detailed comments and feedback on each article.

Student Elites: Uniting the Power of Youth to Fight Epidemic

The party branches of law school undergraduates held a party day on the theme of “My Anti-epidemic Story”. In the form of branch party members telling their own stories, all Party members were called on to learn the spirit of fearless to voluntary activities.

At the beginning of February, Li Xuanyu, a member of the first undergraduate party branch, became the co-ordinator of Wuhan University's Beijing Alumni Association in Xiantao. On the busiest days, he had to work from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, but he said it’s worth it.

Wu Yalin, a member of the first undergraduate party branch, recently signed up for the “Third batch of Wuhan University online teaching for the children of National Medical Team” volunteer activities. It is reported that the third batch of volunteers are still docking with hospital's demands, Wu Yalin is also using this time to regain high school textbooks, actively prepare lessons.

Jing Zihan, a member of the second undergraduate party branch, signed up for the “Green City Messenger” volunteer service initiated by the Zhengzhou Communist Youth League to participate in the epidemic prevention work of the Yufuzi Road community.

In the party day activities, students were inspired by these moving deeds of people around them, and said they will fight the epidemic to the end.

Youth League Committee of the College actively carried out “issues and suggestions for online teaching” special theme activities, such as “Your Anti-epidemic Story” theme solicitation activities, “National Judicial Examination” sharing meeting, “Unite as One to Fight the Epidemic” photography & vlog competition and “Moments of Female” Women's Day blessing collection.

This series of activities enriched students’ life, activated the class atmosphere, and strengthened the confidence and determination to overcome the epidemic.

Winter will eventually pass, and spring is sure to come. Everyone concerned about Luojia, our school, is making great efforts for coming back early.
