On April 24, a seminar on the construction of virtual simulation first-class courses in law under the background of new liberal arts was held in our School. The seminar was hosted by the Working Committee of Liberal Arts Field of Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Innovation Alliance, Renmin University of China and Wuhan University, and organized by Wuhan University Law School. Wang Yi, Vice President of Renmin University of China and Dean of Law School, Shen Zhuanghai, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Wuhan University, Wang Jian, Vice President of Northwest University of Political Science and Law, and Feng Guo, Dean of Wuhan University Law School attended the meeting.
The conference is conducted online and offline. More than 40 representatives were invited to attend the conference.
The conference was opened by Prof. Wu Yiwen, Vice Dean of Wuhan University Law School. Wang Yi, Vice President of Renmin University of China and Dean of the Law School, Shen Zhuanghai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Wuhan University, Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Renmin University of China, and Wu Dan, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Wuhan University Undergraduate School, delivered speeches in succession, and Wang Jian delivered the keynote speech.
Vice-President Wang Yi pointed out that the construction and exploration of a new disciplinary field in law needs to be based on Chinese reality, draw on overseas experience, adapt to the requirements of the times, and construct an analytical framework of law with Chinese characteristics. Deputy Secretary Shen pointed out that the expanded use of virtual simulation technology in legal education requires us to have a precise understanding of the shortcomings of the current legal education. Director Zhang introduced the necessity and significance of the new liberal arts construction work and pointed out that the law of talent cultivation should be followed to create a new pattern of talent cultivation. Deputy Director Wu analyzed the progressive significance of the virtual simulation experimental teaching mode around the background of the construction of the new liberal arts. And according to Vice-President Wang Jian, the New Liberal Arts is both a political and an institutional concept, and it is very important for the New Liberal Arts to build a pluralistic mechanism.
After the opening ceremony, the seminar was divided into four units: "Reform of Legal Education under the Background of New Liberal Arts Construction", "Innovation of Legal Teaching System and Model", "Construction of First-class Courses of Virtual Simulation in Law (I)" and "Construction of First-class Courses of Virtual Simulation in Law (II)". Participating experts and scholars carried out in-depth exchanges around the themes and shared their experiences and achievements.
Dean Feng made a concluding speech at the closing ceremony. He pointed out that this seminar was a conference to reflect and seek changes, start the journey to the future, exchange experiences and seek consensus. He hoped that all institutions would use this conference to expand the road of legal education together with information technology, artificial intelligence and virtual simulation and other discipline technologies.
