Xiao Yongping Awarded the Title of "The Sixth National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents"

Recently, the Sixth National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents Commendation Conference was held in Beijing. The Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China and Ministry of Science and Technology of the People´s Republic of China awarded 93 comrades from the front line of scientific research and production in the fields of science and technology, education, culture and health with the honorary title of "National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents". Prof. Xiao Yongping is one of the six teachers recommended by Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China to receive this honor. Prof. Xiao Yongping was also elected as the second "Most Beautiful Social Science Person" in Hubei Province, and a total of 10 people in the province won the award.

The "National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents" is a high honor awarded by the state to professional and technical personnel, which has been selected nationwide for five sessions in 1999, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014, and this year is the sixth session. This activity is organized by The Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China and Ministry of Science and Technology of the People´s Republic of China and other relevant central and state departments, focusing on the recognition of leading talents emerging in major national strategies, major scientific research projects, major projects; outstanding talents emerging in strategic emerging industries, key areas of local regional development, advantageous industries, etc.; long-term adherence to work in the front-line professional and technical positions, dedicated the outstanding talents with selfless dedication. Prof. Xiao Yongping is the only professional and technical talents who won this award in our province's universities this year.

Prof. Xiao Yongping, male, born in February 1966, is a native of Macheng, Hubei Province, and graduated from Southwest University of Political Science and Law with a bachelor of law degree in 1988.He graduated from Wuhan University in 1993 with a doctorate degree in private international law. He has been teaching and researching at Wuhan University Law School since his graduation, serving as a lecturer (1993), associate professor (1995), professor (1997) and doctoral supervisor (1998) , vice dean of Wuhan University Law School (2005), dean of Wuhan University Law School (2007-2016), and is currently the director of China Top Think Tanks-Wuhan University Academy of International Law and Global Governance (2020), and director of Wuhan University Institute of International Law (2016-present). He is also the executive vice president of the Chinese Society of Private International Law, the executive director of the Chinese Law Society, the vice president of the Chinese Society of International Law, the vice president of China Society Of Studies On Sports Laws, the president of the International Law Research Society of the Hubei Law Society, the member of the International Law Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the member of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the member of the International Commercial Committee of the Supreme People's Court, the researcher of "One Belt and One Road" Judicial Research Center, the researcher of Environmental Resources Judicial Theory Research Base, the expert of foreign-related commercial maritime trials, the member of Postdoctoral Academic Steering Committee of China Institute of Applied Law, the legal advisor of Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, the expert of National Social Science Fund Subject Review Group, and the editor-in-chief of "Chinese Yearbook of Private International Law and Comparative Law", "International Law Review of Wuhan University". In 2010, he was awarded as one of the "Top Ten Young and Middle-aged Jurists in China" by the Chinese Law Society, and in 2012, he was selected as one of the Changjiang Scholars by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. In 2015, he was selected as one of the leading talents in Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China.
