Organized by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the " CIETAC Cup " is a pre-tournament of Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The competition attracted many famous universities in China, such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, East China University of Political Science and Law and University of International Business and Economics. For the first time, players from the UK, Uzbekistan and Malaysia competed with students from various universities in China. The WHU team was guided by Associate Professor Qiao Xiongbing from Wuhan University School of Law. Wang jingru and Zhu Wenjie, graduate students of the School of Law Class of 2020, served as coaches. The team included 2019 graduate student Li Sentao, 2018 undergraduates Luo Xiaoke, Lin Jidong and 2019 undergraduates Chen Xinya, Xu Jinghan. Among them, Li Sentao and Lin Jidong conducted oral arguments as players on the field. After three days of fierce competition, the Wuhan University team won the national second prize with the ninth place. At the same time, Li Sentao and Lin Jidong won the honorary title of "Best Debater" from many contestants.

The success of our team in this competition is attributed to the great support from Wuhan University Law School, Wuhan University Academy of International Law and Global Governance, and Wuhan University Institute of International Law. During the preparation period, Ma Tianyu from Beijing DaHui Law Firm, Xiao Weichu from Beijing King & Wood Mallesons, and Sun Zhaoqi, Wang Huaimin from Wuhan University Law School, who were former Vis Moot team members, provided valuable advice for the team training.

Although our team did not reach the top eight elimination rounds, the above results have fully demonstrated the solid professional ability of our students. After the experience of this competition, the team members realized that their knowledge reserves and practical experience were insufficient. At the same time, the team members strengthened their love for international commercial arbitration and stimulated academic interest.
